Dreamcatcher
A refined game of lines
One of Pieter’s designs is the Dreamcatcher, a cut that is officially registered with the Diamond High Council of Antwerp (HRD, Hoge Raad voor Diamant).
The look of this cut is unique and refined. The delicate symmetry gives a powerful look and the stone seems to move on its own because of the many lines.
Looking into the stone, its shine catches every dream and enchants reality for a moment!
The inspiration
This cut originates in the centre of Antwerp itself, in the old city where Pieter lives, in a historical house at a historical square. There is a small pub located at this square, which was recently taken over by a new owner. Pieter entered to meet this new owner. Sitting at the bar, Pieter looks around the pub, noticing some changes by the new owner. His eye falls on a dream catcher that is hanging in room. As he watches the rotations in the pattern, he takes another sip of his beer and the seed for a new cut has been sowed.
Back in his grinding shop, he sits down behind his digital design program and starts designing his new idea. Soon after, a transparent white rough diamond that crosses his path, is cut by Pieter into the first Dreamcatcher. And many more follow!
